The reliability of RCDs in domestic properties report
ERA Report
This report contains the results of ERAs research and their conclusions concerning the overall reliability of 30mA RCDs installed in domestic premises.
The objectives of the research project were:
- To provide objective information on the in-service reliability of RCDs in domestic properties in the United Kingdom;
- To determine the mechanisms which affect the reliability of RCDs installed in domestic properties;
- To confirm whether regular testing by the user of RCDs currently in use in the UK is necessary to ensure effective operation and, if regular testing is necessary, to provide recommendations for the time interval between testing.
The findings of the research were presented at the Council’s Annual General Meeting in October. A full breakdown and analysis of the results, together with the Council’s conclusions, will be published shortly on our website.
