Words to live by! The last thing you want to do is start any fires in the Student Union - or your new home - by overlooking electrical safety.
We know it can be a bit overwhelming the first time you rent somewhere or move into Halls. There's a lot to think about, but there are just a few things of the electrical nature that you don't want to overlook.
Here is a list of dos and don'ts when renting a property, and if you follow these simple points you shouldn't go too far wrong!

✓ Use an RCD with electrical equipment outdoors.
✓ Regularly check the condition of plugs and cables.
✓ Remove plugs from sockets carefully.

✗ Carry out DIY repairs on electrical installations or appliances.
✗ Bring electrical appliances into the bathroom.
✗ Use electrical appliances with wet hands.
✗ Overload adaptors.
