Grants Scheme 2012-13

The Electrical Safety Council's Grants Scheme aims to support vulnerable people in their local community, helping to provide them with a safer home environment.

The 2012-13 scheme is now open for applications, offering up to £100,000 (£5,000 per agency) in funding to Home Improvement Agencies (HIAs) and Care & Repair Agencies to improve electrical safety in the homes of their beneficiaries.

The closing date for applications is Friday 1st June and the awards will be announced w/c 18th June.

2011-12 Awards

In September 2011, 31 Home Improvement/Care and Repair Agencies were awarded a share of funding from a combined fund total of £100k. Partners use this funding to provide grants to individuals in need of having essential minor electrical works carried out.  Eligible recipients of the grants are home owners over 60 years of age, who are on means-tested benefit, state pension (and with no other income) or home owners who are 21 years of age or over and who are registered disabled.

The ESC works closely with these agencies’ national bodies, who assist us by promoting the Grants Scheme to their respective agencies and also help to co-ordinate the application process on our behalf.  We value the support we receive from Foundations (representing England), Care & Repair Scotland (representing Scotland), and Care & Repair Cymru (representing Wales) and also the support we receive from Gable (Shelter) in Northern Ireland.  Collaborating with these national bodies ensures every eligible agency in the UK has the opportunity to apply for funding.
